We process your chosen date using the Swellcloud global wave and atmospheric data archives, which span from 1836 to present day.

Every chart is generated using:

  • Global wave model data

  • Surface pressure reanalysis

  • Four-dimensional atmospheric datasets

  • Oceanographic swell propagation modelling

For dates between 1836–1979, we simulate swell patterns from historical pressure fields—still producing an accurate and visually compelling representation of the ocean on that day.

To ensure every piece is artistically balanced, we also apply light visual framing:

  • Subtle zoom levels to highlight interesting features

  • Clean, minimalist projection

  • Crisp map detail

  • High-contrast colour gradients

No two artworks are ever the same.
